To be honest I am really bad at writing about myself. I am more of a rambler and get-to-know you through conversation, type person. I'll give it my best though:
I was born and raised in Texas but came up to Oklahoma for college and ended up staying. I studied English, with a passion in writing and analyzing cultural literature. I was raised by two ministers of small town churches, which is probably where I got my love for connecting with people from. I've been married to my childhood sweetheart for four years. We have two kiddos together and are debating if we have enough chaos in our lives or if we'd like to add more.
I believe we all need a little more fun in our lives. We have so much going on that we forget to take a moment and savor the chaos that is life. In my world, savoring the chaos means capturing it - taking the second to snap the picture and freeze time. It is similar to writing, instead of reading and writing about the connection of people, I get to observe and capture via pictures now!
I love taking family photos, maternity photos, and milestone photos because it does just that, it freezes time.
As someone who has been a recipient of family photos, I know how chaotic it can feel in the moment - wrangling your kids and praying that the session is going smoother than it feels. That is it though! That's the beauty of being behind the camera. I get to capture 'that' moment and let you savor it later. I get to take a picture of the expecting mother, who is not feeling the 'glow' but rather the exhaustion and aches of pregnancy, and show her that she is indeed radiating! I get to capture the four year old running circles around the tired parents but when the parents see the joy on their babe's face and how their little humans look at them in the picture... That's why I love photography. It's the connection.
